breast-feeding

Autumn was a godsend for me!  Even after successfully breastfeeding two babies, I had some major difficulties with my third.  Autumn helped me every step of the way.  She was a wealth of knowledge and resources, and a strong source of emotional support when I needed it most.  She is caring, compassionate, and determined to help in every way possible.  She got me through one of the biggest physical and emotional hurdles I have ever experienced in life, and 10 months later.. baby is still breastfeeding strongly!  I can’t thank you enough, Autumn!

When my daughter was born she wasn’t latching properly. I was a terrified new mom, not able to feed my own newborn baby and I didn’t know where to begin. Autumn was the only Lactation Consultant who would come to us on such short notice and help us out. Her empathy for our situation during this time continued long past our first encounter. Still, any time I have a question, I feel comfortable reaching out to her and am always very confident in her advice. She is extremely knowledgeable, very reliable, and dedicated to helping and educating families about nursing. I can honestly say I don’t know what I would have done without her during probably the most vulnerable time in my life. I am very picky about who I refer my patients to and I never hesitate referring them to Autumn. I know they will be well informed and most importantly well taken care of by someone who works from the heart. I now have a beautiful and chunky 7mo daughter who is still nursing, and I owe that to Autumn

Jamie

My name is Jamie and I am a mother to 5 kids. I had my last baby in March of 2017. I nursed my other children without a problem or concern however my new son had a painful latch and wasn’t gaining weight very fast. I researched it online and talked to the lactation lady at the hospital. She referred me to Autumn Wake as her 1st choice. I called her and left a message. She called me back right away and talked with me for quite awhile. I was very relieved to get some answers. Even though her schedule was full she moved things around and got me in within a few days. She was awesome!! She put my mind at ease and took the stress away. I felt very comfortable with her and confident in her advice. She is easy to talk to and has the answers! She has kept in touch to check on me (again pretty awesome). I am so grateful for her and I would highly recommend her to anyone with any questions or concerns.

Autumn Wake is an outstanding lactation consultant that I would recommend to all my friends and family.  It was right before I was about to give up on breastfeeding, that I found Autumn, without her I would have stopped after struggling with it for three months.  My son could not tolerate dairy and hated using bottles plus he wasn’t gaining weight while I was breastfeeding him, so I knew something was wrong.  Autumn was incredibly knowledgeable and had a good idea of what my son’s issue was, even before we meet in person.  At my first appointment I felt very comfortable and trusted her right away.  She was able to determine what was wrong with our breastfeeding process in that same appointment and gave me referrals to the appropriate doctors.  Autumn also had equipment that allowed me to continue breastfeeding and adding supplemental breast milk to the process, helping my baby get more milk each feeding.  Just days after my first meeting with her, my son was already gaining weight and drinking more than he had before.  It was like night and day.  Due to my son not getting enough milk, he was feeding for forty-five minutes at a time but after meeting with Autumn he quickly reducing his nursing down to less than thirty minutes.  The process took a few weeks but after seeing the doctor she referred me to and the guidance and consulting with Autumn, breastfeeding was no longer the challenge that it once was and it just felt natural and easy.  Thanks to Autumn, I was able to breastfeed my son until he was two years old!  My previous goal was six months and I completely surpassed that with her help.  She even check in with me often and was always ready to help if I needed her.  Autumn is amazing and I am forever grateful for her help!

I was given Autumn’s contact info from a friend while I was still pregnant as a “just in case”. I started having issues with my son’s latch from day 1 at the hospital and it only got worse once I got home. I texted Autumn for help very early on and she came to the rescue! I was feeling the baby blues hard but Autumn was so supportive and encouraging with different options to continue breastfeeding without the pain I was feeling and helped get me set-up with the right team to help my son with the multiple issues (torticollis, tongue and lip ties) that were contributing to our struggle. My dream of exclusively breastfeeding is fulfilled thanks to Autumn’s extensive knowledge and outside resource contacts for issues she can’t fix and I truly can’t thank her enough! I have already recommended Autumn to my sister-in-law who recently gave birth and was going through her own breastfeeding struggles. Autumn is AMAZING and I will continue to send my friends and family to her!!!!

After my baby was born, he latched on right away. Things were good the next couple of times after that as well. Turns out, things aren’t always as easy as they seem. The latching became troublesome and thanks to the referral from my midwife, I found Autumn. She was at my house two days after my baby was born. Right away I was able to rent a professional hospital-grade pump. She showed me some tricks using a nipple shield and a small tube with a syringe and how to feed the baby pumped milk from a small silicone cup. She also referred me to a local pediatric chiropractor who was able to loosen my baby’s tight neck and that’s when his tongue and lip tie were discovered. I had only learned about such a thing a couple of months earlier. My baby boy had the problems fixed with a laser. All the while I was still meeting with Autumn. She had me take videos and showed me stretches to perform in his mouth. It was hard to keep going, as the pain seemed unbearable. I even saw a meme that had four squares that read: pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding, or sleepless nights, which is the worst? For me, I would have to say breastfeeding because the pain lasted weeks for me while labor was over in 14 hours (and I had a home birth!). Autumn helped me push through it although many people told me they would’ve given up by then. It is not in my nature to give up and I’m so glad I am still at it today because I am now feeding my baby what’s best for him without any pain. I love the bonding I get to have with my baby while breastfeeding him. Thank you, Autumn! You helped change my life for the better!

Called Laura for help when my little guy couldn't latch. She ended up coming to my house twice to help me. 3 months later we are still going strong. I went back to work 6 weeks ago and have been able to keep up with my baby while I’m gone. I’m so grateful for all the help!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Laura and Advanced Breastfeeding Support. My
newborn and I struggled with long and painful breastfeeding sessions (which we later found out was
attributed to a tongue-tie). I felt completely defeated and depressed until I discovered Advanced
Breastfeeding Support. Laura and Dr. Keaton Tomlin (Mountain West Dental) confirmed his tongue-
tie and were very hands on with the entire correction and aftercare process. Laura was so
compassionate, knowledgeable, and full of amazing resources. I would recommend Advanced
Breastfeeding Support to any woman who may be struggling with breastfeeding

Blanca

Laura is amazing.
Day 3 of being home with my baby from the hospital I was freaking out. I called 3 other Lactation
consultants on Friday and Saturday before finding her number. No one reached out to me, but Laura
did on a Sunday. I don’t know if this is their normal practice to take calls on a Sunday, but it’s
amazing that she did considering how upset I was. I wasn’t sure if what I was going through was
normal. She was willing to come to my home that day to give me a consult.
Right away after our first session, I felt immediate relief and everything about breastfeeding 360’d. It felt natural. 3 months later, I’m an absolutely happy, no pain-having breastfeeding mommy.
Thank you Laura!

Edna has been patient with me and given me hope in this breast feeding journey. I love her patience, it has helped me stay calm in frustrating situations.

Janet

Edna was the 4th LC that I’ve seen. I had a rough beginning with my breast feeding journey from covid, discovering a tongue tie to mastitis and my supply dropping. The other LCs that I worked with were rushing the appointment or not as helpful/informative. Edna took her time at each appointment and truly cares about her patients and it shows. She is knowledgeable and explains things well. My only regret was not contacting this place sooner. Highly recommend.

Collyn

I was very nervous about my initial appointment with a lactation specialist. I didn’t know what to expect or if there was any hope for me with breastfeeding. However, Edna was extremely helpful and made me feel understood. I explained my fears to her and my breastfeeding problems and she was able to reassure me that I’m not alone and work with me to create a plan. My daughter was causing me a lot of pain by the way she latched on and Edna showed me the correct and more comfortable way for her to latch. Edna validated my feelings and didn’t make me feel ashamed. She also encouraged me to keep trying and celebrate my small wins. I am still learning, but the follow-up recap email helps me to remember what we discussed and work on my technique. After 2 sessions with her I feel confident that I can continue my breastfeeding journey.

Advanced Breastfeeding Support is an amazing resource! I met with Autumn during my pregnancy and was provided with great information, support, and hands-on practice with using my pump. After the birth of my baby, I contacted them two days postpartum for some help and I was scheduled with Edna for the next day, which is amazing and so helpful since it’s so overwhelming being a new mom. Edna has a calm, welcoming personality that makes you feel safe and comfortable during your appointment. She walked us through some exercises to help strengthen my babies mouth, recommended we see someone for a possible tongue tie (provided resources to reach out to and baby ended up having a severe tongue and lip tie that was able to be taken care of early on), and answered all of my questions. She took her time showing me exactly what she meant when she gave tips on breastfeeding and was so gentle with my baby. During a follow up appointment, I came in late due to getting lost and baby having a breakdown and Edna took care of me as a mother first, allowed me to calm down, and made sure I knew that I was doing the best job for my baby. Edna is amazing and I hope that more mothers who need support are able to use her as a resource!

I came to advanced breastfeeding support for lactation consult 3 weeks after i gave birth. I was struggling producing breastmilk, and my baby isnt latching. I stopped breast feeding as it hurts my breast plus not much milk coming out. So i have to supplement my baby with formula. Which is also a struggle because of the shortage. I seek out for help and met with Edna for a consult. She taught me the right way so baby could latch well, the timing, the oral exercise for the baby, and baby body and neck exercise, foods for mom etc…
All my concerns and questions was answered. Just the same day, my baby latching well on my breast. Just 4 days im producing breast milk and even have extra for bottle feed when my husband has to give it so i could sleep. I came to see Edna for follow up after a week, and we are so much happy to come back and tell her how much progress we made in just a week. I am producing enough breastmilk and no need for formula. I really recommend to come see lactation consult for help. Its my 2nd baby but still need so much help. Hospital really doesnt have help for lactation, and theres so many questions that has not answered before you bring baby home. We are so happy we met with Edna.

I owe all of my breastfeeding success to Autumn! I cannot thank her enough! She helped me reach above and beyond my goal of breastfeeding. If you think you are doomed, but even have the smallest bit of interest to breastfeed she is your gal. We struggled with a tongue, cracked nipples, blood blisters, losing supply, etc and I was able to feed my baby my breastmilk for a full year and I had doubts I wouldn’t be able to for even a month. Autumn knows her stuff!

Autumn was knowledgeable, supportive and helped me with various parts of combo feeding including breastfeeding, pumping and bottle feeding since daycare is part of our family routine. She also supported in my first experience with a tongue/lip tie release for my little babe. She and her staff are wonderful!

I can’t say enough great things about Autumn! I have used her for help with breastfeeding all three of my babies. I have had some really difficult and unique challenges including oversupply/clogged ducts, multiple rounds of mastitis, babies with lip/tongue ties, and galactoceles. She and her team have made it possible for me to have the breastfeeding experience I want, and I am so grateful to have them in my corner. They are beyond knowledgeable and professional and have a TON of resources that have been so helpful! Through all of the challenges I have gone through with breastfeeding, I have always felt totally supported and have never lost hope that I could get through the tough times and come out on the other side. They are the best and I would recommend them to any mom who wants to have a successful and happy breastfeeding experience!

Autumn helped me soooo much with both babies! I had more difficulty with my first having tongue ties and low milk supply. She is so passionate in her work. She is very knowledgeable, professional, nonjudgmental, and has great follow up. She really takes each patient case uniquely based on each mother’s lifestyle. Private IBCLC’s are more experienced than the hospital lactation nurses in my experience so far. She helped me find local IBCLC’s to help in between her visits (I’m in California). She also helped me with bottle feeding when I decided to go back to work. My milk supply increased, I became more confident, and my babies thrived.

I was apprehensive to seek out an IBCLC because I thought breastfeeding would just get better in its own. But after 5 weeks of still having pain, I decided to reach out. Advanced Breastfeeding Support jumped out at me when searching all the IBCLCs in the valley because they accepted insurance and they were close by. I’m so glad I went. Both Autumn and Edna were amazing. After my first appointment with Edna, I was already experiencing less pain. She was able to easily see what I was doing wrong and what I could improve to help my baby eat at the breast more efficiently. As new problems cropped up, they were able to fit me into their schedule and address them, even messaging them through their website and text was so great because with breastfeeding, new problems can arise quickly. I appreciate Advanced Breastfeeding for all that they’ve helped me with. I wouldn’t have been as successful without them.

I can’t say enough about the knowledge and support Autumn gave me through the postpartum phase.  I had clogged ducts, mastitis, supply issues, baby had tongue tie so latch issues etc.. I was a hot mess express in so many ways and autumn solved all my breastfeeding issues. Autumn was also very supportive emotionally through this hard time. She truly is the boobie whisperer. Thank you and I would highly recommend her.

We had our first baby in January and like many new parents received way to much conflicting advice from too many people who “knew best”. We had no idea what we were doing but were completely in love, excited and completely lost.

I called Autumn in tears after our daughters first doctors appointment at 1week old. She had developed a severe case of jaundice and almost lost a pound (which is a lot for a tiny baby). Autumn calmed me down and walked me through the complexity of breast feeding and making sure our baby was actually getting enough to eat. She not only made sure that our girl was latching correctly but gave me advice about what I should eat to produce enough milk, breast massages that helped ease my painfully engorged breasts, how to actually hold her and what cluster feeding was all the while reminding me that I was doing a great job and telling me I was the best mom.

The support she gave me during that very difficult first week (and still to throw day) was priceless and I am forever grateful to have had her in my corner!

I Love autumn! Couldn’t say anything bad about her if i tried! She is so knowledgeable and non judgmental. Very helpful in all things post partum; she just so happens to specialize in breastfeeding. Her help through my sons tongue tie recovery was priceless. She gave me mental support while helping my son learn how to nurse and use his tongue the right way. She provided me with resources for mouth stretches, body work, and general tongue/ jaw/ facial development. I still ask her any and all questions when something new starts going on with this breastfeeding journey. She is amazing and i don’t know where we would be without her

I seriously wish I had found support from Autumn when I had my first born. I never could breastfeed him and it made me feel as if I was a terrible mother. When I became pregnant with my second Autumn met with my husband and I before I even gave birth. She provided an abundance of information but was not pushy at all. The day after I had my son she came and spent over an hour with my baby and I. I cannot believe that a professional cares about her business as much as Autumn. I believe it’s because she cares about her clients and their families even more. I recommend Autumn to anyone that is looking for breastfeeding support. She is the best.

Nicolette has been so helpful to me. She took the time to understand my concerns about breast feeding my daughter. When I felt like what I was doing wasn’t working she was able to come up with a new game plan for me and reassure me about this process as a first time mom. She’s very smart in her field and I would recommend her to anyone who needs help with breast feeding.
