About Kim

Being the oldest of 5 siblings who were all breastfed by our mother till the age of 2 or more, breastfeeding my own children was, of course, the only choice. I was not like many mothers today who read all the books, and take all the classes. I had my mother! I believed her to be the ultimate resource when it came to breastfeeding. I faced many challenges with my first baby. He was in the NICU for several days. I experienced very painful latches with bleeding nipples. I wish I had sought the help of an experienced professional. Although I did succeed in exclusively breastfeeding, it was a difficult journey initially. Oh if I knew then what I know now!

When I discovered that you can make a living helping mothers with breastfeeding, I knew it was the path for me. I became a Certified Lactation Counselor first, and then immediately pursued board certification. I have worked in the hospital setting since 2010, and now am adding outpatient care to help make me a more well-rounded consultant. What a rewarding career! It really is true when they say to find something you are passionate about, and you will never feel like you work a day in your life.

I am now also furthering my knowledge of feeding by becoming a Speech Pathologist. I have recently completed my Bachelor's in Speech & Hearing Science, and hope to enter a Master's program soon. My hope is to one day offer comprehensive care and assistance to families who have infants with feeding issues.
